PART PARTS OF MS POWERPOINT WINDOW  

Before creating a powerpoint presentation we must be aware of the various components of the powerpoint screen.
1. Title bar: The title bar is a horizontal bar at the top of the presentation window that displays the name of the active presentation along with the program name.  You can see Presentation Microsoft PowerPoint as the name of the presentation window where Microsoft PowerPoint is the name of the program.  At the left end of this title bar is a Powerpoint program icon, which when clicked displays control box containing commands to move (Resize, Move), size (Maximize, Minimize) and close the window.  The right end of the title bar also contains three buttons that serve the same purpose.
2. Quick Access Toolbar - The Quick Access Toolbar appears to the right of the program icon at the left end of the title bar, by default.  It displays the Save, Undo, and Redo buttons by default, which can be customized to include other commands.
3. Ribbon - Below the title bar lies the ribbon.  It stretches across the top of window and provides easy, central access to the tasks you perform while creating a presentation.  It consists of tabs, groups and gallery.  Each tab contains a collection of groups with each group containing a set of related command buttons and boxes (text box, check box etc.).  For example, the Home tab consists of clipboard, Slides, Font, Paragraph, Drawing and Editing groups.
In addition.  tabs also contain galleries.  A gallery contains a set of choices arranged in a grid or list.  .  You can scroll through these choices or click More button to view more options at a time.  Most air support support live preview feature that allows to see the effect when mouse is hovered over the choice in the gallery.
In addition to these Enhanced Screen Tips (i.e. On screen notes), dialog box launcher and task pane are also made available in the ribbon.
The contextual tabs appear when you perform some specific actions (like inserting something or clicking something) on a file.  Thus, they prevent ribbon from getting overcrowded.
4. Mini Toolbar - It appears automatically depending upon the tasks you perform.  It contains commands for changing the appearance of the text in the presentation.  For example, it appears on right clicking in the placeholder.  It disappears when you switch to some part i.e.  click on some other area.
5. Backstage view - It appears when you click on the File tab.  It displays a screen that outside your document where you can save, open, close, print, share slide shows, set PowerPoint options, and chooses how you want to share the presentation.  It is organized into three panels: the left panel containing the commands that you will use to work with files, the center panel offers related options) and the third panel displays a preview image of the selection options along with some additional information.

6. Slides and Outline tab- On the left slide of the screen there is a slides pane containing two tabs slides tab and Outline tab. The slides tab views of the preparation in a thumbnail, or miniature. When the Outline tab is clicked , an outline of the slide text is viewed.
7. Status bar - The status bar.  present at the bottom of the program window, displays information about the document (such as progress of current tasks, status of certain commands and keys current slide followed by number of slides in the document etc.).  As you type text or perform certain tasks, various indicators an buttons may appear on the status bar.  You can control the contents of the status bar by right - clicking it to display the Customize Status Bar menu, on which you can click any item to display or hide it. 
At the right end of the status bar are the view control elements such as the View          shortcuts toolbar, the zoom button, and the zoom slider.  Using these tools, you can adjust the display of file content.  Four main views are - Normal, Slide Sorter, Reading View and Slide Show.
8. Notes page view - In addition, Notes page view is used for entering information about the slide.
9. Scroll bar - When you powerpoint document contains may slides such that they cannot fit in the window.  a vertical scroll bar appears at the right edge of the document window.  If the document in too wide in the document window, a horizontal scroll bar appears at the bottom of the document window.
The position of the scroll box on the scroll bar displays the location of the portion of the document that is being displayed in the document window.
10. Rulers, Guides and Gridlines - If disabled you can enable it from View tab by clicking at the  respective checkboxes.  When enabled a check mark appears along with it.  These are useful when you want to plan the use of space on the slide and for text and object placement.  Guides consists of two intersecting lines, each of them can be moved independently.  You can move them so that at the point of intersection you can place the object.  You can reposition each line by dragging it.

 START WITH MS - POWERPOINT 

To start the MS - Powerpoint on the your computer you can either double click at MS Powerpoint icon on computer's desktop or perform any of the techniques given below.
1. Click the Start button> All Programs> Microsoft Office> Microsoft Powerpoint 2010.  The MS - Powerpoint 2010 snapshot will appear briefly before the MS - Powerpoint window is dis played.  By default, the PowerPoint work window displays Title Slide layout in Normal view that shows your current slide in the largest area of the window, along with a segment for notes and a panel that will show all the slides you create in the presentation.  It contains two place holders (boxes with dotted or hatched marked borders) where you can type the main heading of a new slide and the subtitle.  It is one of the eight built - in standard layouts.

 Besides these two methods the other methods for opening MS - Powerpoint are
Using Run command window.  Click Start button and type Run in Search program and files text box.  In the Run window, type powerpnt in the Open: text box and click OK button.  You can also browse its location (C: \ Program Files \ Microsoft Office14 \ powerpnt. Exe) by using Browse command button.
Using DOS, you can specify the absolute path to open powerpnt.  exe.  After writing the abso lute path the MS - word will open up.
                     C: \ Program files \ Microsoft office office14> powerpnt.  exe
                     C: \ Progra ~ 1 \ Micros ~ 1 \ Office14> powerpnt.  exe.
By searching for powerpnt.  exe file in Computer window.  Open the Computer 'window, access the path to reach the powerpnt.  exe file.  Once you reach the file double click on it to open it.
You can also use Find command in the Start button and then select Files or Folders.  As a result, a Search Results window appears on the screen.  Type *.  pptx in the search criteria.  Select any file and double click, as a result its contents would be displayed on the screen.  To open a new file click New option from the File tab.  or
